Great Father,

You are the God of the heavens. The first heaven is our atmosphere, the second outer space, but the third heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2) – to which Paul was caught up – is where Your throne room is. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so great is Your compassion toward those who fear You. You are above all when it comes to quality, depth of character, power and privilege. You are the God of the heavens.

Thank You, my God, that You care about the widow and the orphan, the divorced, the abused, the impoverished, the persecuted, the lonely, the abandoned and the unhappily married. You feel compassion upon the sick and injured, the handicapped and the distressed. You empathize with the depressed, and You offer a special blessing to the poor in Spirit. Lord, I encounter some of these people throughout my weekly routine. Perhaps I am one of these people. Lord, may these and others experience Your love. Thank You that in Christ our present sufferings are not worthy to be compared to the glory that will be revealed to us.

Lord, help me to bear up under the trials, disappointments, fears and tribulations of life including: __________.

Let me remember that You are developing my faith and that You often use difficult times to make me stronger in You. Though I admit that I usually hate such trials, I do appreciate what You have done in my life through them. My choice is to go through them with You or without You. I will go through them either way. I choose to go through them hand in hand with You.

Lord, help me to be a good steward of the funds with which You provide me. Proverbs 17:18 reads, "Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom." O, Lord, may I be a wise person. Help me be wise in all areas, including money management.

Father, the nation of Iran is in my prayers today. Although we have heard a lot about this nation in the news, we pray for the people of Iran, that they might be saved. Lord, we cannot get reliable figures, but there are probably only a few thousand believers in Iran if that, less than one tenth of one percent. With Iran being over 99% Muslim and noted for intolerance, five million Iranians live outside the nation. Thank You for their seventy congregations. We pray, Lord, that freedom would reign in Iran, and that the Gospel would spread and multiply. The Magi came from Iran (Persia) to see the Christ child and we pray that the people of Iran would likewise come to Christ.

Father, thank You for the ministry of World Harvest Mission, "a missions sending agency that...has over 130 missionaries in 13 countries." Their vision is to "see people and communities everywhere being made new by the gospel." They "serve the church by sending people who are being changed by the gospel to begin new churches and strengthen existing churches." O Father, bless their efforts, grant them harmony, provide for them and empower their work by the Holy Spirit.

Now help me find my joy in You, I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Dear Lord and Father of Mankind,

You are the One true God. The world claims many gods and many who do not know You claim that there is One God – but not necessarily You, Yahweh, the God of the Bible. You are the true God, as defined and described in Scripture. Although we cannot understand all the mysteries of Your Tri-unity, we know that it is accurate to say that You are One; Yahweh our God is One Lord. And to the degree that we understand the teachings of Your Word, we believe in the true God. Help us to sharpen our understanding of Who You are so that we will "know Whom we have believed."

Lord, all around me are men, women and young people struggling with destructive substance abuses or other harmful addictions. Although it is great to be free from all addictions, some are definitely worse than others. And modern society with its dysfunctional families and high stress pressure makes a great hotbed to nurture these addictions. Help friends, family and possibly myself to learn to cope with life by walking more closely to You. Help them to believe that life can still be meaningful and livable, even without the addiction. Help us to know what to do to help our addicted friends and to recognize what we cannot do as well.

I pray for parents everywhere. Lord, parents are so important to those little ones entrusted to their care. May parents everywhere protect and train their children in humane and balanced ways. Help them to love their children, not to spoil them and to encourage them toward positive directions. We pray that Christian parents would prove to be consistent role models for their young ones. Help parents to give thought to childrearing in light of modern times; keep them from just repeating what previous generations did during simpler times. Please, Lord, help parents to get their heads out of the sand.

Lord, the nation of Iraq is a complicated one. Headlines every day demonstrate that this nation is having a challenge to rebuild itself. But thank You, Lord, for the flow of the Gospel into this land. Before the war, about one-tenth of one percent claimed to be born-again evangelicals. That seems to have grown since ministries have been allowed into the country. I pray that the Gospel would take a deep root there and I ask that You would help the believers to have unusual wisdom, boldness and be under the control of Your Spirit. O Lord, please do a mighty work in Iraq!

Thank You, Father, for the ministry of World Help, a mission that "was founded in 1991 as a...nondenominational Christian organization to help as many desperate people as possible through humanitarian aid, child sponsorship, Bible distribution and church planting." Lord, help them to be effective in fulfilling what You have called them to do. Give them wisdom, harmony amongst themselves, provide for their needs, protect them and empower them by Your Holy Spirit.

Help me walk with You today, I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Lord,

You are the Most High God. You are not merely above us nor do You share Your status. You are truly above all; none are higher than You. No one outranks You; no one matches Your rank. You alone, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, are the Most High God. Although the evil one is powerful, he is far from at parity with You. As the hymnist put it, “one little word will fell him.” There is no competition. The difference between a single cell creature and a mortal man is great, but the difference between You, O Lord, and any created being is greater! Indeed, how can anyone who is finite be compared with You Who are infinite!

Father, as a sinful human being, I sometimes need to apologize to others. Help me not excuse my wrongs, or predicate my apologies based upon how others wronged me. Help me to ask for forgiveness by taking full responsibility for my actions and isolating them from the behavior of others. Help me utter those words, “I was wrong; please forgive me.”

Lord, I know that I have not because I ask not. Please, Lord meet the following needs and requests according to Your perfect will: __________.

Lord, troubled marriages are all around me. Often I am not aware of that. A friend at work, a neighbor, a relative. A mom with young children feels trapped and the couple could use some time away with her husband, but no family is near or there are no trusted friends to watch the children; finances are tight and the tensions high. A man or woman was reared in a messed up family and the baggage they bring into their marriage is destroying it. Long work hours, addictions, anger, violence and immorality – people all around us are struggling. Help us to be supportive in every way and help the marriages around me to get stronger especially within my church family.

I pray for the nation of the Ivory Coast. Once considered a safe base for missions, the Ivory Coast has become more turbulent. Lord, grant stability and continued religious freedom in this land. Help the Christians there to take charge of the church, to be strong and to multiply the number of believers in that land. Use the trauma of war and disunity to drive people to You and as things settle down may the church be more mature and stronger than ever.

I pray for World Relief, an organization that “works with local evangelical churches to bring relief to suffering people in the name of Christ. Together, World Relief and partner churches are saving lives and restoring hope through ministries that address poverty, disease, hunger, persecution and the effects of war and disasters.” Thank You that they seek to “meet suffering people's physical, emotional and spiritual needs, showing them that the Church cares because Jesus loves them.” O, God, provide for this ministry. Give them what they need to get the job done, the wisdom to do the job and the power of the Holy Spirit to bear fruit. Help them get along with one another and bless this work, I ask.

Now, Lord, help me be active for You today, I ask in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Lord,

Your Word compares You to a Potter and us to the clay. Just as the potter has the “…right to make out the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use” (Romans 9:21), so we acknowledge that we have no grounds to talk back to you (Romans 9:20). We may not like where Your Sovereign hand has led us and our lot in life might be other than we would wish, but ultimately our main choice is whether to take Your hand or to kick against the thorns in protest. We choose to walk with You. We thank You that You understand exactly what You are doing, even though things are sometimes not as we think they should be. We confess that You are doing a much better job at running the universe than we could. So we submit ourselves to You, the potter. We remember that we are clay in Your hands.

Father, help me to keep my spiritual eyes open, and to join You where You are working. Perhaps a friend or associate is going through trials and You are using this to draw him or her to Yourself. Help me be alert and to minister accordingly.

Lord, thank You for blessing me so abundantly. Today I am thankful for: __________.

Father, I release the control of my life to You so that the Holy Spirit can control me. I remember that it is, “not by might, nor by power, but by Your Spirit,” that I can overcome (Zechariah 4:6).

Lord, help my church be harmonious. May the leaders be firm when it comes to the clear teachings of Scripture and gracious about the not-so-clear matters. Keep antagonists, troublemakers and those who resent authority away from our congregation. Help my church to be effective in evangelism, discipleship, loving one another and world missions.

Today I pray for the nation of Ireland. Lord, this land has a wonderful history. Yet there are so few born-again evangelical Christians there, only 3.3%. Thank You though that the evangelical church does seem to be growing, even as other forms of Christianity are rapidly declining. Thank You that there is an evangelical work in each county. O, Father, may more and more Irish people come to a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ. May Your Spirit draw many to Him.

Thank You for the great heritage and wonderful ministry of World Vision “a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.” Thank You for their work in over 48 countries. As they minister to the poor, we pray that many would find the Savior. Provide for their needs, bless them by empowering them with Your Spirit and help them to work in harmony.

Now, Lord, help me to live in harmony with Your will today, I request in the Name of the Savior, Amen.

O God,

You are the Ancient of Days. You, O Lord, not only go back to the beginning of all things, but You go back before all things. There was a time when there was no time, yet You were there. As we learned in geometry, we are like a ray; we have a starting point and go on eternally, but You are like a line, eternal in both directions. You are the Ancient of Days and this implies You have an eternal wisdom, too.

Yes, my past carries some negative memories, but it carries some pleasant ones as well. I can be tempted to live in the past. My past carries some pleasant memories as well. Help me not to glamorize the past (Ecclesiastes 7:16), but to remember that You are always active in my life. Although there are things about the past that I love to remember, help me to press forward to the goal You have set for me (Philippians 3:13). The best days are ahead (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Your Word tells me that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me those sins, and You will purify me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I accept responsibility for my sins and freely bring the sins Your Spirit brings to my mind now: __________.

Help me, Lord, to be assertive – to be able to ask for what I want – but to avoid being demanding. Help me obey the Golden Rule when it comes to making requests, to do unto others as I would have them do unto me.

Lord, today I remember that nation that is especially near and dear to Your heart, the nation of Israel. Your Word reveals that Your determination to bless Israel remains firm (Jeremiah 31:36-37, Romans 11:29). Yet few of the children of Israel know Jesus, Yeshua, as Messiah. Thank You that the number of believing Jews (Messianic Jews) has increased from 200 to 7,000 with Israel, yet only two-tenths of one percent of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals. I look forward to the time when the nation of Israel will turn to Christ in droves (Zechariah 12:10), but I pray that many would come to know You before those times. I also pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Father, praise Your Name for Wycliffe Bible Translators and the great work they do! Over "5000 active members from 46 countries...help build the church around the world and give people access to the words of life." Wycliffe seeks to translate the Scriptures into the mother tongue of every language group: "Already Wycliffe workers have helped to complete 611 translations, making God's Word available to more than 76 million people." Over 380 million people cannot read a Bible in their native language because it is yet to be translated into that language. Wycliffe's goal is to have a translation project started in each one of these languages by 2025. O Lord, help them reach this lofty goal to Your glory. Provide for them, grant them safety, harmony and empower them by Your Spirit. Raise up Christians to help complete the task.

Now use me today, I pray in the Messiah's Name, Amen.

Helper of the helpless,

Thank You, Jesus Christ, that You are God. You are the Son, the Word and the exact representation of the Father. You are also a sinless man. You are the God-man, the Savior of the World. Your divinity had no beginning, but is eternal. As God the Son, You have always existed. Your humanity had a beginning within the virgin's womb. But even Your humanity is special, for Your human nature is the firstborn of all creation – it has the preeminence. And from the time Your human nature was conceived, Your two natures are united in one Person. We cannot understand the mystery of it all; we can merely define the boundaries Your Word gives us!

But Lord Jesus, You experienced all this for a reason, to be our Redeemer and Savior – as part of a plan to glorify the Father, Son and Spirit. You were the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. All was created around Your sacrifice and resurrection to Your glory.

Lord, use my mouth to bless others. Help me remember that, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones" (Proverbs 16:24). Help me remember that it is easier to damage others with my words than it is to build them up!

Lord, sometimes I have not because I ask not, so I am asking. Please meet the following needs, requests and desires as You see fit: __________.

Help me with my thought life today. Help me think positive and pleasant thoughts today, thoughts that please You.

Lord, I pray that You would strengthen the marriages in my family, among my friends and within my church family. Put a hedge of protection around them and help these folks to be determined to make their marriage work. Send help to them and may they avail themselves of books, seminars and counseling. Help them build their marriages upon You.

I remember the nation of Japan in my prayers. O Father, this nation seems to be so resistant to the Gospel. Cults like Moonies and Mormons are growing faster than the evangelical church! Only four-tenths of one percent of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals, despite religious freedom. Only 10% of the population believes in a Personal God. The church has not really grown since 1960, but has barely held its own. O Father, break through with the power of Your Spirit, I pray!

Thank you for the ministry of Gideons International whose "sole purpose is to win men, women, boys and girls to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.... Members of The Gideons International place and distribute scriptures in 181 countries in 82 languages.... Annually, The Gideons International is placing and distributing more than 63,000,000 Scriptures worldwide." Indeed, hotels, prison, military, universities, domestic violence shelters, fire departments...are places stocked with Gideon Bibles. Lord, provide for this ministry, give harmony to the members and empower their work by Your Spirit!

Now help me reflect Your character to others today, I ask in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Lord Jesus,

You are the Root and Offspring of David. David was a type of You. He was a man after God's own heart and he ruled with integrity and honesty. But He was an imperfect type. David was a sinner who sometimes failed miserably. You never fail and You are the spotless Lamb of God, One Who was tempted in all points as we are, yet was without sin (Hebrews 4:15). David was of the tribe of Judah, of the nation of Israel. According to the flesh, Lord Jesus, You were genetically connected to David through Mary who descended from David's son, Nathan. Legally, You had the right to rule because Joseph was a descendent of David through Solomon. Even though this line was later cursed, You were actually connected physically to David through Mary, but only legally through the cursed line, thus avoiding the curse (Jeremiah 22:30).

You did this, Lord, not so we could produce genealogical charts for our walls, but You determined these things so Your people could identify the Messiah: of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Judah, the House of David but not the line of Coniah, born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) as the seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15) who was a virgin (Isaiah 7:14). Yet many of Your own nation and family did not receive Him. But for those of us who have received Him, He has made us the children of God (John 1:11-12).

Help me to resist temptation and the lures of the Satan today.

[for the married]

Lord, thank You for what marriage has done for our society and this world. Help my marriage to be a blessing. Guard it, put a hedge around it, and help us to be determined to work out our differences with an unswerving commitment. Help us to respect one another, to talk to one another, to compromise with one another and to enjoy one another's company. Help us to work at our marriage, to nurture it, to go out together, to occasionally read a book to help us renew our marriage and to really understand one another. When I do not understand, help me to know this. Do not allow me to think that I understand my spouse when I do not. Never let an attitude of contempt or sarcasm master me.

[for the single, divorced, separated, or widowed]

Lord, I have to admit that sometimes life is lonely. Although friends and family enrich my life, sometimes I regret that I am alone. At other times, I appreciate it! Help me to appreciate the blessings of the single life: time to focus upon You, freedom to come and go as I please and a simplicity of life. Help me to participate in church and community. If I am left out, help me to become tough to that. Help me dive in and include myself. Help me remember that this is usually not intentional. Many couples have no idea I want to be included and their minds blind them to pick up on my desire to be included. Help me express to them in no uncertain terms that I want to be included. Keep me from taking the stance of a victim and help me to celebrate the single life.

Lord, I pray for my own town, city, or county. Help those of us who know Christ realize that we are to be Your witnesses. Keep me from thinking that this is my pastor's job; his job is to train me to be a good witness; I am to do the work of sharing Christ. Help me believe and practice this reality.

Lord, I pray for the missionaries from my denomination (or an evangelical denomination I respect). Father, fill them with Your Holy Spirit constantly. Help them walk closely with You and to share the love of Christ with heartfelt compassion. Help them walk in harmony with their fellow missionaries. Provide for their families and meet their physical, social and spiritual needs. Keep them true to Your Word, encourage them and give them fruit for their labors and wisdom for their decisions. Protect and direct them, I pray.

I surrender myself afresh to You in the Messiah's Name, Amen.

Savior,

You are the Last Adam. The first Adam made a sinful choice and he plunged the universe into a state of decay and death. He was our representative, our proxy. Since that time, all humans – except You, the virgin-born Jesus – have been born with a sin nature. You were born with a human nature for sure, but one that was not predisposed to sin, like Adam's before the Fall. Perhaps this was why it was necessary for You to be born of a virgin, so You did not inherit the sin nature.

Like the first Adam, You are the representative for others, the believer's proxy. In Your case, Lord, You chose to obey – even though You were repeatedly tempted. Romans 5:17 tells me, "For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ." Thank You, Lord Jesus.

Lord, I am thankful for many things three of which are: __________.

My God, I empty myself before You so that Your Spirit may fill me. I find my strength in His power, not my own. May Your Spirit control me today.

Lord, I know the church gathers so that believer can build one another up in their faith, the result of this is spiritual maturity as seen in faith, hope and love. I need to be part of the Body to mature properly. I need to socialize to be mentally healthy and I need Christian fellowship to be spiritually healthy. Although worship is part of church life, it's not just about worshipping You. Help me to become a more mature Christian. This does not happen in giant leaps, but by small baby steps. Help me make those steps. I also pray for the following, that they would grow a little more every week: __________.

Father, I pray for the Kingdom of Jordan. Thank You for the religious freedom there and I pray that it would continue. Although only two-tenths of one percent of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals, the evangelical church is growing. Although many Christians end up immigrating for other lands, help those who are committed to remaining multiply themselves by sharing Christ. May Your Spirit prepare more and more hearts for the good news of Jesus Christ. Bless the Jesus film and other outreach attempts. Help the church to train and retain good leaders, I pray.

Thank You for Missions to Military, a "Christian ministry that works through local churches and with Bible-believing Chaplains to help evangelize and to disciple military men and women for Jesus Christ." Thank You for the six Military Christian Centers on the east coast and the two centers located overseas. Use these centers and the staff to win men and women to Christ and disciple them. Fill them with Your Spirit, provide for them and grant them harmony.

I pray for city and town employees who help maintain, protect and plan for the needs of their citizens. Bless many of them with salvation and a sense of satisfaction from their work.

Now use me as Your servant today, I ask in Jesus' Name, Amen.

God the Son,

In Scripture, we read that You are the Word, and the Word became flesh. You, God the Son, are the Living Word. When You return to conquer and reign, You will also be known by that title (Revelation 19:13). You communicate the character of God to us and when incarnated You helped us understand Who God is by Who You are. We marvel at the relationship between Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Lord, thank You that You have an agenda for me to become holier. You are in the process of sanctifying me, helping me to grow in spiritual maturity. This requires my cooperation; we are working on this together, though we do not work in the same ways or equally. The point is that You want me to nurture my walk by being involved with things like spending time in Your Word, prayer, building friendships with other believers, learning from others in the Body and serving You. You Spirit will then take these things and use them as part of the process of growing in You. Help me adopt Your agenda and surrender my own.

Lord, I have some specific requests to bring before You today. They are: __________.

Father, I have some personal health concerns including: __________. I also pray for the physical, mental, or spiritual health of others including: __________.

Father, I would like Your peace which passes all understanding to guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I give You my stress, my cares, my worries, my heartaches and my fears. Help me realign my perspective and to remember that all I have to do is to do Your will for me. I do not have to please everybody, I do not have to carry the world's worries on my shoulders and I can do nothing to change the past. But I can go forward with You today.

I ask You to work within the nation of Kazakhstan, one of the former Soviet Republics. Thank You for the .6% of the population who claim to be born-again believers. I pray that this number will grow to 1% within the next 5 years and then double every five years. Lord, this nation is made up of over 65 people groups and I pray that every one of them would have a thriving church community within the next decade. Use the Jesus Film, literature and the testimony of believers to draw people to Jesus. Help the church produce strong leadership.

I pray for the ministry of UIM, formerly United Indian Missions. "The purpose of UIM shall be to establish indigenous churches among Native Indian, Mexican and Hispanic peoples of North America built on the Scriptures and functioning within their cultural orientation." Thank You for their work in Canada, the United States and New Mexico as they work to reach, nurture and disciple Native Americans. Give them the leading and power of Your Spirit, I pray. Grant them harmony and unity of spirit and provide for their needs. Bless them with an abundance of fruit!

Help me love You with all I am, I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.

My gracious Master and My God,

The Savior is referred to in Your Word as “the Lamb of God.” Thank You, Jesus, that You laid down Your life for me as a sacrifice to the Father for my sins, as my sin offering. You did this freely of Your own will. You likewise took Your life up again through the resurrection.

Just as the angel of death “passed over” the homes of the Israelites and the believing Egyptians who applied the blood of the Passover lamb to their doorposts, so Your wrath passes over all those Who have accepted Jesus Christ and are washed in His blood by faith.

Lord, remind me to walk the extra mile in my dealings. Your teaching is a moderate one: You instruct me to make extra effort and be gracious, to walk the extra mile. But only an extra mile, not an extra twenty miles. So help me to extend a reasonable amount of grace to others, but at the same time help me to assert myself and not be taken advantage of after walking that extra mile.

Your Word tells me that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me those sins, and You will purify me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I accept responsibility for them and freely bring the sins Your Spirit brings to my mind now: __________.

Father, I pray for strained relationships. We read of the return of Elijah that “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:6). Lord, there are many strained relationships between parents and children or in-laws. There are many other strains between family members or friends all around my community. Father, bring about repentance and reconciliation in my family – if this be Your will – or prevent these heartaches if all seems to be well now.

Lord, today I pray for the Spanish-speaking world. Most of these people reside in Latin America or in the European nation of Spain. Spanish is the official language of 20 countries, and there are more than 30 countries in which Spanish is widely spoken; it is the third most widely spoken language in the world with 250 million people claim Spanish as their mother tongue. Thank You for the Scriptures in this language and that good evangelical literature abounds in Spanish. Thank You that many Spanish-speaking people have come to know Christ, especially in Latin America. May these nations become pillars for future missionary efforts.

Thank You Lord, for Action International, “an evangelical, nondenominational, missionary-sending agency that works in major urban centers of Asia, Latin America and Africa.... ACTION missionaries reveal the Gospel and love of Christ to neglected and abused children and their families through practical ministries that specialize in reaching the urban poor.” Bless, empower, provide for, protect and use the “160 missionaries (and many other team members) in 13 countries.” Grant them harmony and the help of Your Spirit.

Now, Lord, help me follow You faithfully today and give me a thirst for You, I request in the Name of the Savior, Amen.

Lord of Mercies and God of Comfort,

You are the Light of the World. Although nature reflects many truths about You, such truths are muted and confused by the effects of the curse of the Fall into sin. Nature may expound Your glory, majesty, power and reveal Your wrath, but Your works are only echoes of Who You are. You are Light and in You is no darkness at all – not one bit. You dwell in inapproachable light, yet You enlighten those who come to know Christ and who seek Your face. Your light speaks of Your purity, Your spirituality and Your distinction as the uncreated and uncaused Creator Who is separate from His creation.

As my Mighty Fortress and Rock of Defense, You, O Lord, are out for my best interest. Sometimes I doubt this. I am more prone to believe this in theory than in practice. As I sit in my cushioned chair, it is easy to say that my trust is in You, but in the trenches of daily life, I am often fearful, worried and mistrusting. Help me, O God, to let my convictions affect the realities of my daily life. May I trust You not merely on paper or with lip service but in truth.

I pray for my lost friends and family members, including: __________. Father, please send Your Spirit to draw them to Yourself and grant them the repentance that leads to life.

Omnipotent One, I pray for the nation of Kenya. Thank You for the religious freedom that reigns there and for the great response to the Gospel: almost 36% of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals, yet only 12% of the population attends church regularly. The problem of "nominalism" is growing, so Lord, please revive Your children there! Alongside this poor church attendance is the AIDS epidemic which infects about 14% of the population leaving many orphans as a consequence. O Lord, if Your people would walk with You, how many miseries would be averted!

Lord, I pray for those who are suffering from AIDS and other like diseases. Although many have received these sexually-transmitted diseases through sinful behavior not all have done so. Innocent children, faithful spouses, or those receiving blood transfusions, etc. have all been struck with these diseases. But even among those who have become infected through practices which are against Your revealed will, we know that all of us have sinned in varying ways and to varying degrees; when we turn from our sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ all our sins are forgiven. We pray, Lord, that all who suffer from such diseases will come to know Jesus. We pray that You would heal them, according to Your will. If You choose not to heal them, give them better health and help them use their remaining days to serve You. Bless and guide those who serve these folks; thank You for their ministries of mercy and love. Help all Your children avoid immoral practices and help the rest of us to not look down upon those who have such a past.

Now, God use me to serve You this day, I ask in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Almighty God,

My Lord Jesus Christ is my great High Priest. He does not qualify to be a priest after the order founded by Aaron. No, His priesthood is after the order of Melchizedek, an order that preceded Aaron's. As a matter of fact, Aaron's forefather, Abraham, paid tithes to Melchizedek! As a sinless high priest, He did not have to offer a sacrifice for his own sins. No, He had and has direct access to You. And He did not offer sacrifices of bulls and goats to make us merely ritually clean so that we could participate in the religious life of Israel. No, His sacrifice cleansed our consciences and our souls. He offered Himself! He is both the priest and the sacrifice. And His sacrifice only needed to be offered once for all time since the infinite Son of God is joined to the human nature of Jesus so that an infinite price has been paid. The sacrifice of Jesus is more than adequate to save all.

Father, help me remember not to take my own revenge, but to leave space for You to do so. Although I can confront or claim the protection offered me by law or policies, many things fall inbetween those cracks. I am tempted to get even. But, Lord, by not getting even, I allow You to deal with matters thoroughly.

Lord, I have some specific requests to bring before You today. They are: __________.

Lord, I am thankful for many things, three of which are: __________.

Lord, I empty myself before You so that Your Spirit may fill me. I find my strength in His power not my own. May Your Spirit control me today.

Father, help me to be a person who thinks ahead. Help me learn the principle of counting the cost, redeeming the time, wisely making decisions and keeping the commitments I make. Keep me from procrastinating and help me to pace myself.

Today I pray for the Andhra Pradesh state of India with its almost 80 million people. Although this area has seen growth over the decades, it has been in spiritual decline. Many Christians have a nominal faith and some have been converted back to Hinduism. This is the only state in India in which the Christian population has declined. Although 1.9% of the population claim some sort of Christianity, at one time it was up to 4.2% in 1971. Lord, reverse the negative trends with strong positive ones. Many areas have no Gospel outreach. Please, Lord, do a great work here.

Thank You, my God, for Ambassadors for Christ, whose mission is to “evangelize and disciple Chinese students and professionals in the United States and other parts of the world, to motivate and equip them to impact the culture for the Lord and to mobilize and channel them into the service of Christ as a vital force for God's Kingdom.” Bless their work, grant them harmony and the power of Your Spirit. Provide for the workers, and help them to develop many disciples for Jesus Christ.

Now, Lord, please send angels to guard me today, I ask in the Name of the Savior, Amen.

O Lord,

Jesus Christ is my sin offering. I do not present my good works to You, for they are as filthy rags. I do not present religion, good works, or rituals to You. No, Jesus Christ is my final offering. He paid for my sins so I do not need to. Indeed, I cannot do so. As the hymnist put it, “Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling.” As my sin offering, Jesus Christ is my complete Savior. He does not help to save me. No, he saves me completely. His blood atones for all my sins. He shed it once for all time for all people, including me. I have appropriated this sacrifice by simply believing, by faith. Faith affirms Your character and agrees that what You say is true. Disbelief rejects Your credibility and is a great insult to You. Lord, I believe.

Help me be a person of character. Let my “yes” really mean “yes.” Help me to speak honestly. Instead of saying what I should say, help me either speak my mind with tact or, if appropriate, hold my peace. But do not let my lips utter words I do not believe. Help me to love the truth.

Father, today I pray for the Bible-believing faithful pastors scattered in my country and around the world. Lord, their task is more difficult than ever. The modern challenges to the family, busier schedules, the high demands and expectations of church members and the stresses of ministry make pastoral work a high burnout calling. Additionally, troublemakers plague many churches and sometimes lay leaders with unhealthy attitudes control them. Pastors have to wear so many hats and be taught in so many areas: preaching, teaching, counseling, visiting, organization, keeping current on issues and ministry trends, administration, leadership, officiating weddings, funerals and baptisms...on and on it goes. Help pastors to stand up to attacks and not be passive, to pray and be alert and not try to make everyone happy. Help them do what is in the best interest of the church and the Kingdom of God. Help them train lay leaders to do the work of ministry and to put the ministry of the Word, their personal walk with You and their families above the expectations of others. Help them accept the reality that they will always have plenty of undone work, but help them not to be a slave to the “tyranny of the urgent.”

Today I pray for those who determine the missions’ policy in my home church. Lord, many churches are so into themselves that they do not put much emphasis on foreign missions. This is so contrary to Your Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), the church’s “job description.” It urges us to do our part to get the Gospel to the entire world. Our own nation and area will always have needs, but we must share Christ with those who have never heard. Please, Lord, deliver us from ethnocentrism and help us understand that You want us to reach people of every kindred, tribe and nation. Guide our church leaders so they recognize the importance of this task and help them seek to do a fair share of supporting missions.

Now, Lord, help me be a good witness for You today, I pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Dear Father in Heaven,

My Savior, the Lord Jesus, is the Christ, the Messiah. Whether I use the Greek term "Christ" or the Hebrew term "Messiah," He is the "Anointed One." His human nature is the "firstborn of all creation," above all created natures. His divine nature as the Son of God is eternal, uncreated and has always been. Both natures are united in one Person, Jesus Christ. His task was pinpointed "to save His people from their sins." As He said, He came "to give His life a ransom for many." He is the holy and anointed one, our Messiah, Jesus Christ.

God, please send angels to watch over me and my loved ones. Keep us from harm and evil of every kind, night and day, over the course of our lives.

Help those within my physical and spiritual family to love one another. Sometimes this can be a tall order; not everyone is necessarily easy to love and we love different people in different ways according to who they are and how they act. So give me both love and wisdom, both kindness and truth. Help me to know when to be firm and when to be gracious. Make me neither a doormat nor hardhearted.

Lord, one principle from Proverbs is this: "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed" (Proverbs 15:22). This is a principle not a promise. So, Lord, help me not to rush into major decisions without getting godly counsel first. Help me realize my dependence upon both You and other people. Help me cultivate friendships with other believers so that I can call upon them for counsel and so that they can call upon me.

I pray for church board leaders, officers and teachers. If any do not know You, may they become born-again. Help them to be true to the Bible and to put Your Word over their own personal agendas. Help them to have genuine integrity, Biblical convictions, love, wisdom and courage. Help them be more concerned about pleasing You than advancing their agendas; may they seek harmony when reasonable within the congregation.

Father, I have some personal health concerns including: __________. I also pray for the physical, mental, or spiritual health of others including: __________.

I pray for the small Pacific Island nation of Kiribati. Thank You that the evangelical church is growing while liberal skeptical Protestantism is declining. Yet, Lord, some of the false religions are growing at an even faster pace. I praise You for the 7% of the population who claim to be born-again believers. May that number triple over the next decade. And, Lord, help those who know You to walk with You closely.

Thank You for Deaf World Ministries "an independent...interdenominational ministry with an international perspective that provides opportunities for deaf, hard of hearing and hearing who have a call to reach out to the deaf and hard of hearing people group in the world who have little opportunity to know the Gospel." Thank You, Lord, for their attempts to reach the deaf with the Gospel. Grant them harmony, provision and the power of Your Spirit.

Now help me to put You first in the daily grind of my life, I request in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Wonderful Savior,

You make me wonder indeed. You are my Savior meaning You are the one Who has saved me, who has delivered me from the consequence and power of my sinfulness. You have saved me from the divine wrath due me by absorbing it Yourself. You have delivered me from separation from God both for now and eternity. You bridged the gap between us by sacrificing Yourself. You save me completely. You do not help me to be my own Savior, nor do we have a "shared plan" whereby you do 80% of the saving and I do 20. No, it is not even 99 to 1. It is 100 to 0. The only thing I contribute to my salvation is the sin from which I am saved! You are my Savior. All I have to do is to be willing for You to save me and take You at Your Word. Lord Jesus, You paid the debt in full. I believe it and that settles it.

Father, I wish that all of life were so clear and so black and white! Lord, so many times I have to make choices between shades of gray and my mental and spiritual eyes often cannot tell them apart. I need Your wisdom, for what sometimes seems to be the right choice works damage to my soul and what seems the wrong choice works out for good. Most of the time it is not that way, but sometimes it is. Only You know the beginning from the end, but You want me to think in terms of the long term. So help me look at longterm consequences, but also enlighten me with the wisdom from above.

Lord, I have some specific requests to bring before You today. They are: __________.

Your Word tells me that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me those sins, and You will purify me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I accept responsibility for them and freely bring the sins Your Spirit brings to my mind now: __________.

God, like every one of the billions of people who inhabit our world, I am vulnerable. So, Lord, please send angels to watch over me and protect me. Keep me from harm and evil of every kind.

Lord, the nation of North Korea is a painful place for Your children to live. About 100,000 Christians are imprisoned in labor camps and believers suffer intense persecution. Three million Koreans have starved to death in the latter 1990s and cannibalism is not unknown because of it. The estimated 1.5% of the population who claim to be born-again Christians face threats of death and torture. In many ways, conditions in North Korea are exactly the opposite of conditions in South Korea which is free, prosperous and filled with evangelical believers. Lord, break the bonds of communism and totalitarianism. Help believers to be able to evade persecution and when they cannot give them strength. Deliver Your people, for their blood cries out against their persecutors.

Help those who broadcast the pure Gospel throughout the world. Provide for them, and empower their teaching and preaching by Your Spirit.

I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Lord,

You are a great God. You are grand, majestic, peerless, glorious, universally acclaimed and completely noble. You surpass our understanding and transcend our logic. Nonetheless, everything about You makes sense. Just as an infant cannot understand nuclear physics, so we cannot understand You. But because we cannot understand does not imply that You are not reasonable, consistent and logical – for You are reasonable, logical, an consistent in a way that is superior to our ability to grasp. You are simply too awesome for us, too great for us to fathom.

Father, create a hunger in me a hunger for Your Word. Sometimes my spiritual appetite is sated because I have filled it with junk food. At other times, my heart is focused elsewhere. But Your Word is such a priority that You put it on a par with Your Name, for the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 138:2b, "for you have exalted above all things your name and your word." May I be like the wise man of Psalm 1 who delights in Your Word day and night.

God, sometimes I struggle with doubts. Doubts about You, Your love for me, Your Word, or my salvation. But my doubts can be good. They can drive me to find answers, to empathize with the doubts of others, to think more deeply and to remind myself that faith is choosing to believe despite my doubts. Like the man who asked Jesus to heal his son, I too say, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24). So help me not to deny my doubts but to address them.

Lord, I am thankful for many things three of which are: __________.

Lord, I empty myself before You so that Your Spirit may fill me. I find my strength in His power not my own. May Your Spirit control me today.

Father, You have done a great work in South Korea. Nearly 16% of the population is made up of born-again evangelical Christians. Ten of the eleven largest churches in the world are in Korea's capital, Seoul. Korea is second only to the U.S. in the number of missionaries it has sent out. We pray that the growth and success of the Korean church would continue forward and that more people would come to know Christ. Help the believers to hold high moral standards and speak out against corruption. And Father, I pray that Your Spirit would protect and multiply the Korean Church. May what happened in Korea occur in many other nations!

Today I remember AMG International, "an evangelical mission and relief agency currently ministering in 55 countries of the world." Their mission is "to give each person at least one opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel." Bless their efforts and empower them with Your Spirit as they "endeavor to meet people at the point of their need whether it be hunger, sickness, or hopelessness and show them Jesus as the only answer to the problems of this life and the only hope for eternal life." Grant them harmony amongst themselves and provide for their needs bountifully, I ask.

Now help me be on the lookout for opportunities to minister Jesus Christ to others, I ask in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Father,

Thank You that Your Son, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is the way, the truth and the life. He is the way to You, the way to forgiveness, the way to eternal life. He is not just a way, but the way. As He said, "no one comes to the Father but by me" (John 14:6). We do not walk down a path (a way) of rituals and achievements – no, Jesus Himself is the way. He is the truth; His Gospel is the only true Gospel. And He is the life; all other "ways" lead eventually to death. But His way leads to life, an eternal life that begins now and extends forever and ever.

Lord, help me to rest in You and in Your truth. I do not want to be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. I need to carefully develop convictions from Your Word and stick to them. I do not want to be among those Jude calls, "clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees without fruit and uprooted...wandering stars..." (Jude 12,13). Help me be settled in You.

But, Lord, even though You are the life, sometimes life in the here and now is not so easy. Lord, I have some disappointments and burdens in life. A few of them have hurt me and have left scars, including: __________.

I turn them over to You. Help me to find Your purpose and joy in my life. There are many things I cannot change, but I can share all my thoughts with You. Thank You that You do not stifle me or pressure me to "get over it." You do not penalize me for honestly expressing my feelings as some people do. You are a God Who feels with me.

I remember parents. Lord, parents are so important to those little ones entrusted to their care. May parents everywhere protect and train their children in humane and balanced ways. Help them to love their children, not to spoil them and to encourage them toward positive directions. We pray that Christian parents would prove to be consistent role models for their young ones. Send angels to protect them, I pray.

Lord, I pray for the nation of Kuwait. Thank You that about .6% of the population are born-again evangelicals. Yet, Lord, it is against the law to proselytize Muslims, so any work has to be done quietly. O, Father, we pray that true religious freedom would reign in this land and that many would turn to You. Bless the Jesus Film, radio and satellite broadcasts, and the testimony of those who know You. May the church grow five-fold over the next decade! May Your Spirit irresistibly draw people to Jesus in this land.

Thank You for InterAct Ministries which "exists to glorify God by fulfilling the Great Commission among unreached people groups.... [They] want to see a culturally relevant church in every community of the North Pacific Crescent." Thank You for their work in Canada, Alaska and Russia especially Siberia. We pray, O Lord, that You would provide harmony and empower the missionaries, provide for their needs and protect them. May they reap a harvest for Your Kingdom.

I ask You to help me be faithful to You today, in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Lord Jesus,

Thank You that You are our Brother. When You, God the Son, took on flesh and became a man, You entered creation by becoming a creature and You entered humanity by becoming human. Yet You were sinless in Your humanity. You called us into Your new family and now we will enjoy eternity as Your companions (Hebrews 1:9) and brothers (Romans 8:29). Not only are You always above us, but You will also be with us (John 14:3), enjoying our company as we enjoy yours. These truths are beyond my ability to imagine. Jesus Christ as my big brother – what a thought! Just as we respect the Father but also call Him "Abba," so we respect the Son, but also call Him "Brother."

My God, help me to fear You more than I fear people. Your Word says that, "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe" (Proverbs 29:22). Keep me from giving in to peer pressure or from compromising my faith because I want to please others. Help me to be considerate and kind to others, but help me to fear displeasing You more than displeasing them.

Lord today, I especially remember those looking for a job. Open doors of opportunity and match the right person to the right job. Especially help those who work with integrity and have good character to find employment.

Father, be Lord of my finances. Help me regulate my money with Your wisdom.

Gracious One and Lord of the Great Commission, I bring the nation of Kyrgyzstan before Your throne. More than one half of one percent claim to be born-again evangelicals, a tiny representation of Your Kingdom. The nation is horribly impoverished and corrupt with all sorts of superstitious beliefs mixed with Islam. O, Father, raise up a people for Your Name in this land. Use them to lead the nation to honesty, prosperity, integrity and most importantly salvation. Do a work of Your Spirit here, we pray.

Lord, thank You for the ministry of Bibles for the World as they follow their "dream to give a free copy of the New Testament to all the families of the world in response to the commission of the Lord, 'the Gospel must first be published among all the nations.'" They have sent over 14 million New Testaments to individual homes in over 100 countries." Provide for their needs, give them unity and harmony and bless their work by empowering it with Your Spirit, I ask.

Help me to serve You today, I pray in the Messiah's Name, Amen.

Lord,

You are the Beginning and the End. You started the events of history; they came to a crescendo when our Lord Jesus died on the cross as a curse for us (Galatians 3:13) and then rose again, being boldly declared as the Son of God (Romans 1:4). But one day, the events of history will culminate in the return of Christ to reign and eventually a new heaven and a new earth will replace the current creation. And just as You were sovereign over eternity past, a time before time, we are now here to enjoy Your sovereign grace for an eternity future, a time after time. You are the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega.

Father, soon millions of young people will be graduating from high school or college, and they will scatter in many directions. Lord, from a human standpoint, our future is in their hands. May You reach down and draw these young adults to faith in You and commitment to serve You and others. Guide them as they choose careers, spouses and locations. We pray that this new young generation would surprise the world by turning to You and Your values and way of thinking. Help them to defy the agendas set by Hollywood and other anti-Christian value groups and instead to return to a Biblical faith and value system. Grant them great wisdom and insight, I pray.

I pray for my lost friends and family members including: __________. Father, please send Your Spirit to draw them to Yourself and grant them the repentance that leads to life. Lord, salvation is such a precious gift – I pray that they would receive it.

I pray for the nation of Laos. Thank You that a little more than one percent of the people claim to be born-again Christians. O Lord, double that number over the next two years, I pray. We pray that persecution might stop completely and that the anti-Christian government and private citizens would recognize these rights You give to all particularly the right of religious freedom. Despite the dangers and lack of trained leadership, thank You that the church is growing. May Your Spirit change hearts and draw even the government leaders to faith in Jesus, I pray. Help the Christians to be shrewd and able to avoid persecution. When they cannot, grant them the grace they need, I ask.

Lord, thank You for Biblical Literature Fellowship and their "vision for spreading God's Word in the French language through the printed page.... BLF is unique in that it is possibly the only Christian publishing house with a vision for reaching Francophone Africa for Christ by means of literature to evangelize and disciple the Africans." Lord, use this branch of missions to under-gird other outreach ministries and use them to evangelize by simply getting Your printed Word out! Give the missionaries unity and harmony, empower them by Your Spirit, provide for them, their families and needed resources and protect them, I ask.

Lord, today is Yours. Remind me of that, I pray in name of Christ, Amen.

Mighty Savior,

You are the head of the church, Your body. Church leaders answer to You. Although some people think that having a perfect leader would make for a perfect organization, such is not the case. You are the perfect leader, but Your children do not always follow Your directives. Although most of us want to follow You most of the time, Lord, we fail so often. You are the head in the sense that You are the leader of the organization. You are also the head when we view the church through the illustration of a body. Just as a human head, containing the brain, directs the actions of the Body, so You want to direct the actions of the church at large and each congregation in particular. Help us never get away from the concept of being held accountable to Your authority by being accountable to Your Word.

Lord, I pray for our government leaders: our President and his cabinet and staff, the Senate, Congress, Judicial System, our Governor, state legislators and state officials. I pray for county and municipal leaders and officials. Father, fill these offices with those who will accomplish Your purposes. Help us to be able to practice and share our faith freely and peacefully.

Lord, I am thankful for many things three of which are: __________.

Lord, I empty myself before You so that Your Spirit may fill me. I find my strength in His power not my own. May Your Spirit control me today.

Your Word tells me that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me those sins, and You will purify me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I accept responsibility for them and freely bring the sins Your Spirit brings to my mind now: __________.

Thank You for the European nation of Latvia. I am so grateful that Latvia is now free. As they recover from the harsh years under communism, may many turn to You. Thank You that 7.6% of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals. May that percentage double over the next decade. Provide training for Christian leaders and bless the broadcasts on radio and TV by Bible-believing Christians. Thank You for the blossoming youth ministries. May Latvia become a key base for evangelical Christianity in the years ahead!

I bless Your Name for the ministry of the Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission. I am "grateful that there are over 40 established national churches with Brazilian pastors. Five Brazilian families are serving as home missionaries and one young lady is serving on the Amazon, all supported by Brazilian churches." May "the seminary, Bible institute, Priscilla Training School for Women and Theological Education by Extension...continue in the important task of training believers for service." Thank You for the "23 families and three single ladies serving as missionaries...in Northeast Brazil." Continue to expand and provide for this ministry, empower them by Your Spirit, grant them harmony and fruit.

Now help me to display the fruit of the Spirit today, I request in Messiah's Name, Amen.

Lord,

I speak to You person to Person. You care about me and the details of my life even though the purpose of my existence is to glorify You. You now indwell me. This is real. Help me to live in light of reality. There is no pretending here.

Lord, I have some specific requests to bring before You today. They are: __________.

I pray for Your children who are divorced that You would help them to go forward with Your hand in theirs. I pray for the children of divorced parents. Lord, the experts say that the scars remain for a lifetime and many children blame themselves for their parents' divorce. O God, You know the pain that children feel even if they do not express it. Please, Lord, help these children! And help adults whose parents were divorced. Help them persevere in their own marriage and not to panic at conflict.

Father, Satan roams about as a roaring lion. His demons network to accomplish maximum iniquity, to ruin whatever is good. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I take up the armor of God today. I put on the helmet of salvation. I am safe in the Savior's care having been redeemed by His blood. I put on the breastplate of righteousness, the perfect status You give me because You see me in Christ. I wrap truth around my waist. I love the truth and take no delight in lies, falsehoods, or exaggerations. I face the truth even if it is painful and humbling. My feet are ready to serve You in sharing Christ with others. I take up the shield of faith: I choose to trust You despite my doubts and despite my unanswered questions. And for my offensive weapon I wield the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word. I do not just own a Bible, I read it and meditate upon it. I replace lies and halftruths with the piercing truth of Your Word. So, Lord, bind the forces of evil in my life today.

Lord, the ancient nation of Lebanon needs a touch of Your Spirit. Only .6% of the population claim to be born-again believers and because of terrorism and hostage-taking many missionaries or foreign Christians left the country. Thank You that some advances have been made particularly in the realm of training church leaders. Father, multiply the number of believers five times over the next decade. In Your sovereignty, please create a safer environment and open hearts to the Gospel like never before. Remember that the temple was built from the cedars of Lebanon and shower this people with Your grace, I pray.

Thank You, Father, for Carver Foreign Missions and their ten missionaries who serve in Liberia. "The mission operates the Carver Academy which is an elementary and junior high school with 350 students and the Monrovia Bible Institute." Most of the teachers at these schools are graduates from Carver Bible College. O Lord, bless both Carver Foreign Missions and Carver Bible College. Use them in mighty ways, empower the teachers, students and missionaries by Your Spirit, provide for them and grant them unity and harmony.

May I have a blessed day, I ask through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Lord Jesus,

You are the "heir of all things" (Hebrews 1:2). One day, everything will be put under the feet of Jesus Christ (Psalm 2:8). As God the Son, You have a right to everything, for You are the Creator. But Your human nature will also receive the blessing of being over all things. You, God the Son, emptied Yourself and took on human nature, submitting Yourself to the Father. One day, Your human and divine nature forever together as one Person, Jesus Christ, will be exalted when You inherit all things. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that You, my Jesus, are Lord.

Help me with my thought life today. Help me think positive and pleasant thoughts today, thoughts that please You. You want me to renew my mind not empty it. You want me to study Your Word and think of ways to implement it. You want me to get to know You better by filling my mind with productive thoughts, to reflect Your glory by cherishing and developing my mind and to love You with all my mind. Lord, help me appreciate and respect the precious gift of my mind. Help me bring every thought into subjection to Christ.

Lord, like everyone else, I have fears and insecurities that haunt me. I give them to You and ask You to help me constantly and repeatedly give them to You. Thank You that I can give You the same worries over and over again and You never weary of them; You want to be my constant friend, my constant counselor and my constant source of strength. There are no quotas, no rationing, not protocol that limits what is reasonable with You. This is true with human beings; I can wear people out and make them dread my presence if I do not restrain my requests, but not so with You. With You, the more the merrier!

Lord, help me to get to know my neighbors where I live or where I work or the school I attend. Teach me the importance of participating in my community as an avenue to benefit myself and a way to show love to others. Help me to socialize.

I thank You that 8.2% of the African nation of Lesotho is evangelical Christian. Thank You also for the large born-again presence in non-evangelical churches, almost 13% of the population. But, Lord, AIDS is also a big issue affecting 24% of the adults. May the evangelical church double within the next decade and may the many nominal Christians get serious about serving Jesus Christ.

Lord, thank You for Chinese Christian Mission which “has developed an international network of missions in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Philippines, Singapore, Canada and Australia.” Bless them as they seek to reach the “1.3 billion Chinese in Mainland China and over 70 million Chinese overseas.” Provide the power of Your Spirit, the finances and harmony within the mission to accomplish this awesome task. Send angels to protect the missionaries and we pray that persecution with China would be a thing of the past. Do a mighty work, we pray, among the Chinese people – as You indeed have been doing. May the Chinese people become the world’s leading Christian people group!

Bless my day, please, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

My Great Master in Heaven,

The Savior is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). I do not mean that You, O God, have a physical body; but in Christ we see Your deity veiled by the humanity of Jesus. As the old Christmas carol puts it, “Veiled in flesh the godhead see; hail the incarnate deity.” Through Jesus Christ, we see God in a way that we humans can understand.

Lord, I call You “Master,” for indeed You are and I am Your servant. But sometimes, Lord, I live like I am the master and You are my Servant! Or I hesitate and vacilate in my service. Help me to remember that it is about You, not me. What an easy thing to say, but what a hard thing to live. Like John the Baptist, help me realize that “He must increase and I must decrease” (John 3:30). Deliver me from a divided heart (Psalm 86:11), a real condition with which I struggle and a battle I sometimes lose.

Help me to resist temptation and the lures of the Satan today. He and his hoards are on the prowl, but help me not to be ignorant of his schemes. Help me overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony (Revelation 12:11).

Lord, help me to remember not to make decisions based upon my emotions. Help me not to confuse the emotional with the spiritual. Help me remember that, “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool” (Proverbs 28:26); instead, help me cling to Your Word and the direction given by wise fellow-believers. Help me be cautious and wise in making decisions and to weigh the long-term effects of my choices carefully and realistically.

Father, I remember the African nation of Liberia in prayer. Thank You that over 9% of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals while almost 5% of the population in other churches claim to be born-again. The evangelical church has its work cut out. With disease, language barriers and the effects of civil war – coupled with the tendency of people to blend Christianity with paganism – it makes for slow and tedious progress. O Lord, help the people of Liberia to respond to the Gospel in great numbers, doubling the number of believers over the next decade. But even more so, improve the quality of the believers. May Your Spirit hover over this land.

Thank You, Lord, for Christian Aid as they send “financial help to over 700 evangelistic ministries based in lands of great poverty or where evangelical Christians are a persecuted minority.” They “work among unreached peoples.... These missions...send out native missionaries” over 90,000 now on the field...plant new churches “over 52,000 each year...conduct evangelistic campaigns, broadcast on radio and TV, distribute literature and are training 40,000 new workers in hundreds of Bible institutes. They also provide assistance to victims of persecution, diseases and disasters.” O Father, empower this work by Your Spirit, provide for their needs, grant them harmony and effectiveness in the tasks to which You have called them, I pray. Protect them and direct them, my Lord.

Use me today, I ask in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Father,

Your Son, our Savior, is "God's Mystery" (Colossians 2:2). Jesus Christ, the God-man, is reconciling people to God and bringing both believing Jews and believing gentiles into one common body. Although this aspect of the Messiah's person and work was implied in Old Testament times, it was not nearly as clear as it is under the New Covenant. Jesus Christ has been revealed to be the great Reconciler.

Lord, make me a person of discernment, discerning even myself. Help me remember that my emotions are not necessarily the result of reality but rather my interpretation of reality. I can interpret the actions of others in the best personal light, or in the worst personal light, or somewhere between the two. My personal chemistry, the stresses of life, or even levels of sleep affect how I interpret things. Help me to distinguish between fact and impression, event and interpretation of event. Give me a love for truth.

Lord, I have requests to bring before Your throne today. Please intervene for the following needs, wishes and wants: __________.

Father, the qualities of faith, hope and love measure my maturity. Help me to grow in all three of these. Even though I acknowledge that love is the greatest of these, they are all three crucial and non-negotiable. Help me to produce works of faith, labors of love and to exemplify the steadfastness of hope (1 Thessalonians 1:3). You want Your children to be known by their love and I want to be faithful to that calling.

Lord, I pray for the North African nation of Libya. There are no opportunities in this land for open evangelism and only .3% of the population falls under the category of born-again evangelical. Secret police monitor to make sure evangelism does not occur and almost all of the Christians in the land are foreigners. O Lord, use radio, literature and Internet access to reach Libyans for Jesus Christ. May the number of Christians grow by twenty times over the next decade and may true religious freedom reign in this land. Hover over Libya, O Holy Spirit!

Thank You for Christian Missionary Fellowship whose purpose is "to evangelize the non-Christian people of the world." Today, CMF missionaries are seeking to keep up with modern challenges: "globalization, urbanization and the tremendous worldwide growth in the numbers of young people all present opportunities for ministry opportunities for visions of ever-improving ways to draw people into relationship with Christ and His Church. Another challenge is sharing the Gospel in countries considered closed and among people considered unreceptive. But wherever the unreached are, CMF wants to be there...whether as church planters, counselors, teachers, or entrepreneurs...our team members will be deeply involved in sharing their faith and establishing groups of believers." Yes, Lord, I say, "Amen” may it be so." Provide for them, protect them, grant them unity and harmony and may Your Spirit prosper their efforts. May You be glorified through them.

Now, today Lord, may You be glorified in my life, I ask in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

God of Joy,

Thank You that Jesus Christ is my Horn Of Salvation (Luke 1:69). As an animal's horn represents strength, so You are strong. As the ram's horn, the shofar, was used to sound the battle cry, so You lead forth Your spiritual army of which I am a trooper. As the horn welcomed the feast of trumpets and the Jewish New Year, so You bring joy, celebration and happiness to those Who fellowship with You. You not only bring joy, but the joy of salvation, a joy for the long term – indeed, eternity! We look forward to entering the joy of our Master (Matthew 25:23); the coming of Christ like a shofar blast announces the joy awaiting us!

Lord, help me to be a good steward of money and the material things of this life. Help me to support my local Bible-believing church by attending, serving and giving. Help me remember that, "Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand" (1 Chronicles 29:14b). I offer You my time, my treasure and my talent. Help me to be an example to others of those who "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another." Help me not seek in material things what I can only find in You.

Your Word encourages me to confess my sins. Although my relationship with You is secure, my fellowship with You vacillates. My iniquities can distance me from You (Isaiah 59:2). You faithfully forgive my sins when I do so and You cleanse me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I confess them now to You: __________.

Help me read and understand my Bible, O Lord. Help me read portions that may not seem relevant right now believing that Your Word will somehow nurture my soul. Help me also realize that I need to prepare for challenges that may not be apparent right now. Help me to study the whole counsel of God. Help me renew my mind, not abandon it!

Lord, the small European nation of Liechtenstein has only 33,000 people. Yet only .4% claim to be born-again evangelicals. There is only one evangelical congregation in the whole nation. Lord, work in this land and quadruple the number of believers there within the next decade, I ask.

Father, bless Partners International "a global ministry that works to create and grow communities of Christian witness in partnership with God’s people in the least Christian regions of the world." Thank You that they train nationals to reach their own country or nearby regions. "By training church planters in subjects ranging from the Bible to income-generating skills, they are equipped to face the challenges of mission outreach among more than 390 people groups." Lord, bless the ministry of this mission; may the mission's leaders and the national workers experience harmony and unity of purpose, provide for them and empower them by Your Spirit. Help the national workers to be faithful stewards of the faith of the Bible. Protect them, motivate them and lead them, I pray.

Lord, help me to live in light of Your presence today, I pray in the Name of Yeshua. Amen.

Father,

Your Word describes Jesus Christ as "the Power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:24). Of course He is much more than that. He is God in the flesh, He is the Second Adam, He is the Savior – and a host of other descriptions fit Him. But He is also the Power of God. Although He seemed to be weak in His death “He was led like a lamb to the slaughter” and suffered the pain, humiliation and indignity of death on a cross what appeared to be weakness was actually power. For by His submission He ransomed us, doomed Satan and provided the foundation for a New Heaven and a New Earth. It was soon apparent that His weakness was not weakness at all, as He arose powerfully from the grave!

Lord, when I am down and depressed, help me not to feel guilty about that. The Psalmist did not feel guilty when he cried, "Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD" (Psalm 130:1). Depression and feeling blue are part of life. Even Jesus is described as "a man of sorrows" (Isaiah 53:3). There is "a time to weep and a time to laugh" (Ecclesiastes 3:4). But do not let me think that my depression will last forever, that I am a complete failure, or that I am defective. Lord, those are lies from the devil and I claim the protection of the blood of Christ. Help me put on the helmet of salvation so that my thoughts become guarded!

I pray for my lost friends and family members, including: __________. Father, please send Your Spirit to draw them to Yourself and grant them the repentance that leads to life.

I pray for Christians who are straying from their first love or compromising their walk with You. Rekindle the faith they once professed and help them fervently love the Savior once again. Remove their boring view of serving You and help them see the adventure and fulfillment of walking daily in Your light. Stir up their hearts and help them make the routines of godliness a part of their lives. I especially remember: __________.

Lord, thank You that .4% of the population of Lithuania claim to be born-again evangelical Christians. Father, I would love to see that number multiply tenfold over the next decade. But the work is slow. Thank You for the freedom to share the gospel and thank You for the growth that has occurred, but I pray, Lord, that the pace might grow. Provide for trained leaders and more missionaries to work this field. May Your Spirit open hearts to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Lord, bless Christians in Action, an "international, interdenominational and transcultural evangelical missionary society with ministries in 21 countries. Its 300 ministry personnel with the goal of planting indigenous national churches carry out personal evangelism, discipleship and church planting. Other activities include short-term evangelistic teams and medical and dental clinics in needy areas." Fill them with Your Spirit, grant them harmony, protection, provision and much fruit for their labor.

Now help me keep You in mind today, I request in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Great God,

Jesus Christ is called, "The Wisdom of God" (1 Corinthians 1:24). Lord, those who refused to believe often viewed Jesus as foolish, a friend of tax collectors and sinners, and One who was out to create chaos and anarchy. After His resurrection, His disciples preached that Jesus came to give His life on the cross as our atoning sacrifice for our sins and the sins of the world. But the preaching of the cross was foolishness to them that perish, but to us, Jesus Christ truly is the Wisdom of God.

O, Lord, please help the hurting, the emotionally wounded and the devastated. Strengthen those stung by disappointment, encourage the demoralized and bind up the emotionally wounded. Especially help: __________.

Lord, help me to be moderately organized. For some folks this comes naturally, for others, it is contrary to who they are. But balance is the key. Help me to be moderate in all things and to experience that part of the fruit of the Spirit known as self-control. I know that the playing field is not level and it is easier to control myself in some areas than others, while other people may struggle in areas that seem easy for me to control.

Father, I remember persecuted believers everywhere. Many thousands have died for their faith over the last few decades and the war of abuse continues. Help believers in countries where persecution is part of government policy – or where the government encourages others to do the persecution and looks the other way – to be especially wise at averting it. Help those who cannot avoid persecution without denying Christ to be strong and firm. Empower them for the trials that await them. We pray that the persecutors would themselves be won to Christ and that persecuting nations would be won over to the idea of true religious freedom. We pray especially for Sudan, China, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Viet Nam – the Muslim and Communist world in general. Lord, please intervene as Your children suffer and die for the Gospel.

Sovereign One, I pray for the small European nation of Luxembourg. Only .3% of the population claim to be born-again evangelical Christians. Help efforts to translate the Bible into Letzebueresch, the native language of most residents. Create an appetite for the true God by Your Spirit, O Lord. May the evangelical church triple over the next decade!

O Lord, bless Evangelize China Fellowship whose mission is "to present the whole gospel for the whole person in the whole world in order to fulfill the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. 'ECF' stands for the three major Ministerial approaches of ECF, Inc. namely: evangelism, charity and fundamental education." Lord, such a monumental task! With well more than one billion people in China, ECF has a mighty task. But You are an Almighty God. Empower them by Your Spirit, provide for them, protect them, grant them a spirit of unity and harmony and give them the wisdom that comes from above. Send angels to guard them.

Now, Lord, help me complete whatever tasks You have for me today, I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Father,

Your Son is the Beloved (Matthew 12:18) in whom You are well pleased. You are only well pleased with us when we are in Christ by faith because those who are in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:8). Father, You have delighted in Your Son from eternity past and You delighted in Him when He emptied Himself to become a man. You were please with how He lived and You were satisfied with His death as a complete sin offering. You, the Spirit, and He Himself all had part in His resurrection and He ascended up to heaven to sit at the place of honor, Your right hand.

My Master, I am tired of being in a hurry. I hurry to pray before a meal with my family because it is so hard to get them all at the table at once. I hurry to work in some prayer time. O Father, help me better budget my time, to learn to say no and to live at a more leisurely pace. Help me to be more concerned about pleasing You than making other people happy or avoiding their complaints. Help me live a balanced life based upon a reasoned mix of events and adapted to who I am, not who the workaholics, over-energized, or guilt-driven are. May godly reason and balance tame the wild monster of extremism and frenzy.

Lord, I am thankful for many things, three of which are: __________.

Lord, I empty myself before You so that Your Spirit may fill me. I find my strength in His power, not my own. May Your Spirit control me today.

Today I remember the Anhui Province of China with its 63 million people. Thank You that anywhere from 3 to 12 million people in this region claim to be Christians, most of them evangelical. O Lord, persecution by the government sometimes gets intense, and we pray that 1) the persecution might stop, 2) that the persecutors would be won to Christ, 3) that You would give the Christians wisdom to evade persecution and 4) that You would strengthen them when they are persecuted. May the church continue to grow and grow in this province. May Your Spirit continue to hover over this nation!

Thank You for Helps International Ministries whose purpose is "to strengthen and equip evangelical Christian ministries in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, worldwide, by providing various 'helps' as found in 1 Corinthians 12:28...a faith supported missionary sending agency and a service mission to world missions.... HIM provides services to assist the body of Christ in various areas of need such as: Bible teaching and leadership training in overseas seminaries, Bible colleges and pastors' conferences, church planting in areas of unreached people groups, Christian counseling, short-term mission trips and evangelistic events for teens and adults, short-term medical mission trips abroad. HIM assists with financial support of national church leadership, Bible college faculty and other national Christian workers and organizations as approved by the HIM Board of Directors." Bless this work, O Lord. Give them harmony, wisdom and the empowerment of Your Spirit.

Now empower me to serve You today, I ask in the Messiah's Name, Amen.

My Wonderful God,

The Savior is sometimes referred to as “The Bridegroom” (John 3:29). As a bridegroom anticipates being with his bride, so the Lord Jesus Christ is waiting to enjoy His bride – the completed church – forever. One day, we will all be with Him, celebrating the marriage supper of the Lamb and enjoying our destiny as Christians. Like the ancient bride in the Middle East, the bridegroom will come at an unexpected time to literally sweep the bride off her feet and carry her away to a banquet at her father’s home, so we wait to hear, “Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!” (Matthew 25:6). Just as a groom would build on a room to his father’s house for him and his bride, so our Lord Jesus is preparing a place for us in glory in His Father’s house (John 14:2-3).

But Lord, right now, I am not in Your house. I am an alien and stranger, Your ambassador, bearing testimony to Your grace in a world that, by and large, rejects You. So help me to be in this world – to participate – but not to be “of the world” – to become corrupted by it.

Help me to resist temptation and the lures of the Satan today. I put on Your armor by faith, so that I may do battle for You as a faithful soldier. I claim the victory because greater are You, Holy Spirit, Who is in me than he who is in the world – the devil (1 John 4:4).

Father, I have some personal health concerns including: __________.

I also pray for the physical, mental, or spiritual health of others including: __________.

God, I pray for the European nation of Macedonia once part of the former Yugoslavia. This has been a pretty bleak area for the Gospel to penetrate; only .2% of the population professes to be born-again evangelicals. Thank You, that though small, the evangelical church is growing. O Lord, whet the appetite of the people for You; help them taste and see that the Lord is good. Thank You for the new Bible translations and it is my prayer that people would eagerly procure and read them. May Your Spirit grant the repentance that leads to life for many here; may the church double over the next five years, I ask.

Lord, thank You for the bold ministry of Exodus International “a nonprofit, interdenominational Christian organization promoting the message of "freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ." Thank You for the over “120 local ministries in the USA and Canada...over 150 ministries in 17 countries.” Thank You for this ministry which guides Bible-believing churches to, on the one hand, extend the Gospel to all and, on the other hand, maintain that homosexual practice is wrong. We pray that many would find freedom from the power of homosexuality through this and affiliated organizations. Empower the workers by Your Spirit, empower their clients as well and provide for, protect and grant great success to this ministry.

Now, Father, help me to check in with You throughout my day, I pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Kindly King of Kings,

Your Son called Himself “The Bread of God” (John 6:33) and “The Bread out of Heaven” (John 6:32). Just as bread feeds the body, so He feeds the soul. The bread that fell out of heaven, the manna, was freely given, as is the Savior. The manna sustained daily life, but the eaters were soon hungry again. But Jesus feeds the soul in such a way that it never need hunger again. Bread is used to refer to daily sustenance, food in general. Without it, we perish. So without Jesus Christ, our souls are doomed to a Christless eternity. He is the Bread that came out of heaven, the Bread of God.

Lord, help me to take seriously the command to “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Lord, when I am burdened, I want others to help me, but do I reach out to help others? Am I looking to be an encouragement, to pray with another, and to show in some clear way that I care? I know Your Word doesn’t have this verse just to take up space, but it is a very real responsibility you have given to me and all believers.

I pray for my lost friends and family members, including: __________. Father, please send Your Spirit to draw them to Yourself and grant them the repentance that leads to life.

Lord, like everyone else, I have fears and insecurities that haunt me. I give them to You and ask You to help me constantly do so.

Lord, help me to get to know my neighbors where I live and at work or school. Teach me the importance of participating in my community as an avenue to benefit myself and a way to show love to others.

Father, I am so grateful to hear of how well the Gospel has been received among the people of the African nation of Malawi. Thank You that over 20% of the population claim to be born-again evangelicals. Thank You that You are working in mighty ways. Help leadership training to improve. May the seminaries and colleges take a firm stand for the fundamentals of the faith. Help the believers there reach the Muslim people groups with the true Gospel of Christ. May the evangelical church grow by 50% over the next decade and may the believers there exemplify maturity. Help the church address the growing AIDS crisis.

Lord, I remember Missionary Gospel Fellowship whose purpose is “to reach the unreached in North America with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. MGF missionaries have ministered from the southern tip of Florida to the hills of South Carolina and Georgia to Chicago’s bustling Muslim community...riding the range with the cowboys in Montana, counseling Mormons in Idaho, evangelizing in New Mexico and Texas, or training nationals in Mexico.” Father, grant the workers harmony among themselves, provide for them and their families, empower them by Your Spirit and give them great fruit for their labor.

Now help me to have a fruitful day and to stay alert for doors You may choose to open, I request in Christ’s Name, Amen.
